| Thomas Holmes' original Victoria Cross was stolen in 1935 and never recovered. An 'official' replacement VC was issued on 6th August 1935. |

| The 'official' replacement Victoria Cross was stolen from RCL Branch 6 on the 26th August 1978 but was recovered three days later minus its lower ribbon suspension bar. The Victoria Cross was found to be missing from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6, following a refurbishment of their vault. This Victoria Cross is now held by the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. |
