For the award of the Victoria Cross

[ London Gazette, 25 February 1862 ], Chota Behar, Indian Mutiny, 2 October 1857, Sergeant Denis Dynon, 53rd Regiment.

Lieutenant Daunt and Serjeant Dynon are recommended for conspicuous gallantry in action, on the 2nd October 1857, with the Mutineers of the Ramgurh Battalion at Chota Behar, in capturing two guns, particularly the last, when they rushed at and captured it by pistolling the gunners, who were mowing the detachment down with grape, one-third of which were hors-de-combat at the time.

Denis Dynon was invested with his Victoria Cross by the Master of Kilmainham Hospital, Dublin, Ireland, on the 2nd May 1862.

Although Denis Dynon died on the 18 February 1863 in Dublin his burial location is not known - no records.
