| The 20th Reunion began with the traditional Service of Remembrance and Rededication in memory of former holders of the Victoria Cross and George Cross who have died and of all those who have given their lives for their country. The service was held in St Martin-in-the-Fields on Tuesday, 13th April 1999. There are currently 29 living holders of the Victoria Cross and 37 living holders of the George Cross. From this overall number, 47 members were able to to be present - 19 VC holders and 28 GC holders. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother attended the service. Colonel Stuart Archer GC, OBE, ERD, Chairman of the VC & GC Association, read the lesson, and Colonel Pat Porteous VC spoke the Act of Remembrance. The following morning, H.M. The Queen, Patron of the Association, accompanied by H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, gave a reception at Windsor Castle for members and their guests, as well as widows of past members. |
